Nodes
Swedish Folk nodes
Swedish spelmansmusik — the asymmetric polska and the tradition's "in-between" intonation. Polska is the rhythmic cousin of the Turkish usûl (uneven triple-time beats); Blå Toner and Naturton emit folk-tuned scales as cents, exactly like the maqam nodes; Sekundstämma writes the second-fiddle voice.
| Node | Inputs | Outputs | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| Polska | string preset (Jämn / Boda / Rättvik / Orsa / Sextondels / Triol / Släng / Springlek) number bars |
rhythm-tree tree list accents number beats · unit list ratio |
A Swedish polska as an asymmetric 3/4 skeleton — the three beats carry uneven durations and a regional lilt (the Dalarna polskas stretch beat 1 and clip beat 2, weight lifting onto 'trean'). Emits a rhythm tree with authentic uneven timing (still notated in 3/4), an accent curve, the meter, and the beat ratio. The rhythmic cousin of Usûl. Beat ratios are researched starting points — refine by ear. |
| Blå Toner | string mode (Dur / Dorisk / Mixolydisk / Moll) number amount (0–1) number 3rd · 4th · 7th deviation (¢) |
list scale (cents) list deviations |
Bends a diatonic mode toward Swedish folk intonation — the 'blå toner': a neutral 3rd (between major and minor), a characteristically high 4th, and a low/neutral 7th. Dial the inflection with Amount; the per-degree deviations are exposed. The Swedish cousin of the maqam koma-bend — feed into Scale Quantize. |
| Naturton | number fundamental (mc) number lowest · highest harmonic |
list scale (cents) midicents partials list harmonics |
The natural (overtone) scale of the willow flute (sälgflöjt) and härjedalspipa — the harmonic series overblown from a fundamental. Harmonics 8–16 give the naturtonskala with its half-sharp 4th (11th partial ≈ 551¢) and low 7th (7th partial ≈ 969¢). Outputs the scale folded into one octave plus the raw ascending partial pitches. Microtonally exact. |
| Sekundstämma | midicents melody list scale (cents) number tonic (mc) string stämma (Ters / Sext / Bordun / Kvintbordun) string direction (below / above) |
midicents stämma midicents melody |
Derives the second-fiddle voice (andrastämma) Swedish spelman style. Ters/Sext shadow the tune in parallel diatonic thirds or sixths, snapped to the scale so the harmony stays in the mode (including any blå toner / naturton inflection); Bordun sustains the tonic, Kvintbordun alternates tonic and fifth — the open-string drone. Passes the melody through so both voices wire out. |
