Bus nodes

Wireless connections by name. A Send broadcasts a value on a channel and any Receive on the same channel picks it up without a wire — across the cell, or, with the Send's scope set to the whole score, across every cell of the piece. That is how one master cell (a pitch sequence, a rhythm, a tempo) drives many: edit the master and every receiving cell follows in the editor preview, in playback and in Live mode.

NodeInputsOutputsDescription
Send text channel (default: a)
text scope (This cell / Whole score, default: This cell)
any value
— Broadcast the wired value on the named channel. With scope This cell only Receive nodes in the same cell hear it. With scope Whole score Receive nodes in every other cell hear it too; the node shows “→ channel · whole score” on the canvas. When several cells publish the same channel, the one later in the score wins, like the last Send inside a cell.
Receive text channel (default: a) any value Output whatever the matching Send broadcasts. A Send in the receiving cell itself always wins; otherwise the value comes from the cell whose Send has scope Whole score. In the editor the Channel field is a dropdown of every channel sent in this cell and every channel published score-wide by another cell, labelled with the cell it comes from. Two cells receiving from each other form a loop and the Receive reports an error instead of a value, like a wire cycle inside a cell.

A master pitch sequence over several cells — in cell Master: Pitch List → Send “pitches” (Whole score) and Rhythm Repeat → Send “groove” (Whole score). In each variation cell: Receive “pitches” → Transpose / Invert / Retrograde → Voice, with Receive “groove” on the voice's rhythm. The variations hold no pitches of their own, so one edit in Master changes the whole passage. The Bus — One Master Pitch Sequence study in the Examples folder is exactly this.
